In the post-fossil fuel era, the proportion of fossil energy is gradually decreasing, and energy transformation has become the general trend. With the rise of sea level, energy transformation will be more urgent. Sea level rise is both a risk and an opportunity. On the one hand, sea level rise causes inundation risk to coastal ports and power plants. On the other hand, it provides new development space for the transformation of new energy such as wind energy, biomass energy, solar energy, tidal energy, and wave energy. In the future, energy transformation will shift from fossil energy to renewable energy, and from centralized energy to distributed energy to cope with the energy crisis and sea level rise. How to make the new energy landscape take the rising sea level as an opportunity, take the energy infrastructure as a new landscape element, and integrate a new port space strategy is the focus of this design.
The site is located in Nansha Port, Guangzhou. Through the development planning in the next 80 years, based on the analysis of new energy potential, the coastal tidal power generation center and offshore composite power plant will be built. Gradually building landscape corridors and sedimentary wetlands to enrich the value of science popularization and tourism in the coastal zone, and develop marine aquaculture and marine tourism transportation with the help of power generation modules. The new energy landscape will overcome the pursuit of maximizing the efficiency of single container freight system by traditional engineering thinking, explore the multi-dimensional and balanced adaptive development model of coastal port energy transformation in the future, and finally, realize the energy transformation and resilience of Nansha port and even the whole region.
